I was approached on the 4th May by someone claiming to be Stephen Lucas, 52, born 2nd May 1969 , living in California, working in Canada on a 4 week contract on an oil rig fixing as an underwater welder.
Born I'm Netherlands, lived in Denmark for.20 years and married wife who met at an airport..
Married 20 years but she died of lung cancer 4 years ago.
2 children Elizabeth and James who are cared for by a guardian.
Always had suspicion but flattery was nice for a week or so...sent romantic love songs, called me cuddlebug and declared love quickly.
Spoke on phone and had American accent, gave me mobile number which was a California number, video called twice but only for a few seconds because of poor signal..posted a photo holding a piece of paper with day on as proof but photoshopped head and paper.
The photo appeared to be a radio station with Tampa Bay??? He said it was the signal room on the rig! I have deleted the images but may be able to retrieve them??
I approached him as scammer a couple of times when he went missing off Instagram and he said his identity had been stolen!
1 week in and his phone broke, the screen would not respond to touch...so using laptop instead apparently.
Then bank had frozen his account due to previous contract payment which was a large amount and so bank thought there was money laundering going on so did not have access to money, could I send money for the kids upkeep and $5250 for some industrial pipes so that he could finish his job...out of there like a shot.
Did some digging and looks like the Facebook account for Stephen which went up for a day and then back down when I said about it had links with a Damian Jay...from Papua New Guinea and obviously the scammer who has stole Stephen identity.
I wanted to share this so it alerts others.

ALWAYS DO A REVERSE IMAGE SEARCH. THERE IS GOOGLE, TINEYE AND ON A COMPUTER, YANDEX . .There are free APPS for phone. Paid App Pimeyes is the best and you can still see they are using it for free!
