Investigators say there could be more complainants after a 24-year-old Hamilton man was charged in a London police probe into child luring on a popular social media site.

Members of the internet child exploitation unit searched a home on Glenburn Court in Hamilton on Wednesday after a complaint from a concerned parent.

A 10-year-old London girl told her parents about a conversation that she had on Instagram with a user who went by the name @amanda_brouwerr. Police found a man was running the account, which has more than 1,500 followers.

The account had information that it was a modeling page and had an image of a young girl, police said. As of Thursday morning, the account remained active, though it was private and its posts couldn’t be seen.

Police say a man sent a direct message to the 10-year-old London girl, pretending to be a 13-year-old girl named Amanda. The man asked the London girl if she wanted to model for an Instagram page and asked for photographs of her feet.

During the raid of the Hamilton home, police seized a mobile device that had numerous images containing suspected child pornography, police said.

A 24-year-old man from Hamilton is charged with invitation to sexual touching with a person under 16 years of age, two counts of luring a person under 16 years old by telecommunication and unlawfully possessing child pornography.

He will appear in London court Feb. 20.

Police believe there may be more people who have been in contact with this individual or shared images with the @amanda_brouwerr Instagram account.
