GOLD BARS & SUITCASES OF MONEY: ANOTHER ROMANCE SCAM TACTIC!
Why do romance scammers use stories about gold bars and suitcases filled with cash?
To create the illusion of wealth and convince victims that a fortune is waiting for them.
A scammer may claim:
- They have gold or millions of dollars overseas.
- They want to send their fortune to you.
- They have inherited gold or valuable assets.
- Their money is stuck in customs or with a shipping company.
Then comes the catch!
You are told to pay supposed customs fees, taxes, shipping charges, legal fees, or release fees before the money or gold can be delivered.
They may even introduce fake lawyers, shipping agents, customs officials, or government representatives to make the story seem legitimate.
REMEMBER:
- Never pay to release someone else’s fortune.
- Never purchase gold at an online partner’s request.
- Never hand cash or valuables to a supposed courier.
The gold may be imaginary, the suitcase may be part of the story, but your financial loss can be very real!
STOP. THINK. VERIFY.
