Scammers say military must pay for 'lost bullets and guns' is this true?

🔫🔫Scammers say military must pay for 'lost bullets and guns' is this true?

‼️No, this is not true — it's a common variation of a military romance scam.

🪖Scammers often impersonate U.S. military personnel (usually deployed overseas) on dating sites, social media, or apps. They build an emotional connection, then invent excuses to ask for money, such as claiming they need to "pay for lost bullets, guns, or equipment" due to military rules. It is often a good test, if they ask and you believe they will go on to other things.

💵Other common lies include paying for leave requests, medical treatment, food, transportation home, or shipping fees for a package.

👉👉In reality:The U.S. military covers food, medical care, housing, transportation, and leave for service members. Soldiers do not have to pay out of pocket for these things.

💵While soldiers can be held financially liable for lost or damaged equipment (not weapons and ammunition which isn’t lost ! ), this is handled internally via payroll deductions (usually capped at one month's base pay, except in cases of gross negligence). They never need to ask civilians for money to cover it, and it's not framed as an urgent personal expense.

🪖Official sources like the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, FTC, and Military.com repeatedly warn that any "soldier" asking for money — especially for leave, equipment, or similar reasons — is a scammer.

👉👉👉Real service members do not do this.If someone claiming to be military asks you for money, stop communicating and report it (e.g., to the FTC or the platform). These scams cause billions in losses annually. Stay safe!👈👈👈

A COMMON STORY IS HOW THEY ARE ROBBED OR LOSE ALL THEY HAVE AND NEED QUICK MONEY FROM THEIR WOMAN/ MAN FRIEND.

A COMMON STORY IS HOW THEY ARE ROBBED OR LOSE ALL THEY HAVE AND NEED QUICK MONEY FROM THEIR WOMAN/ MAN FRIEND.

👉If a citizen loses all their money, credit/debit cards, and passport while overseas, they can get help and get home safely.
Embassies/consulates follow in these exact situations: United States or any country.

🌏1. Go immediately to the nearest Embassy/Consulate of your country.
Tell them: “I am a U.S.(or which country they are a citizen of). I have no passport, no money, and no cards. I need emergency assistance.”

🛂2. Emergency Passport
They will issue you a free emergency passport (usually same-day or next business day) that is good to travel with. (and usually valid for a few months so you can replace it back home).

💵3. Emergency Money Options (You will NOT be stuck abroad without funds)
You sign a simple repayment agreement (it’s actually an interest-free loan that you repay your Government when you’re back home — most people pay it back immediately when they get home).

🏦C. If you have a bank accounts or credit cards back home: The embassy can also help you call your bank (they often have a direct line to the fraud department of major U.S. banks to help unblock or expedite a family member to send money).

✈️4. If you have travel the next day and no money for the hotel or food:The embassy can also arrange and pay for a hotel night or two and give you a small amount (a few hundred dollars) for food and transport.

✈️5. If you need a flight home very urgently and have absolutely no money:The emergency passport plus the money from the interest free loan is the best and quickest way.
The embassy can approve an emergency repatriation loan for a direct flight home (one-way ticket).
You sign for it and repay them later.

🤳6. If you lost everything including your phone:The embassy will let you use their phones to call family, bank, airline, etc., or they will send a message for you.

👉7. Report the passport as lost/stolen.
Do this at the embassy when you get the emergency one (they do it for you).

Summary of what the embassy/consulate can do for you (for free or as a loan)
Emergency passport (free or very low fee for the emergency one)
Emergency money (direct loan)
Emergency hotel/food money (if needed)
Direct flight home (loan)
Help contacting family/banks/airlines
They do this literally every single day.

👉👉You will not be stuck abroad if you go to the embassy/consulate. 👈👈

ARRESTED AT AN AIRPORT ... common scammer story

🚩ARRESTED AT AN AIRPORT THEY ARE GOING FROM OR THOUGH IS SO VERY COMMON IN ROMANCE FRAUD. a GOOD WAY OF ASKING FOR QUICK MONEY TO GET THEM OUT.

👉When a foreign national is arrested at an airport, the process is different from what happens to a local citizen.
They are detained by airport/border police; searched, fingerprinted.
Must be told why they are arrested.

👉Immediate After Arrest.. Consular Notification Rights
Key right (Vienna Convention Art. 36):You can demand that your embassy/consulate is notified immediately.
⚠️In most countries (US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia, etc.) police must inform the embassy even if you don’t ask.
Embassy can visit you, give lawyer lists, contact family, but cannot get you out.

The person can communicate with and 👉be visited by consular officials only, 👈anyone else under close supervision. .
Possible outcomes: Immigration violation only → quick deportation or removal (often same/next flight) + re-entry ban.
👮Criminal charge (drugs, cash, firearms, warrant, fake passport, etc.) → transferred to police/court system like a local; possible trial and prison.

Transit passenger → still detained and same rights apply.

👉Embassy can help with visits & lawyers; they cannot pay fines or override local law. Always say clearly: “I want my embassy notified now.” Do not sign anything until consular officers haven’t seen. Paying is not an option. Calling anyone or messaging is not an option. Paying money is not needed, they can't get out like that.

👉Arrest and DETENTION. Depending where they are BUT MONEY IS NOT NEEDED TO GET THEM OUT OF DETENTION. 👈They WILL go to detention centre then court.

👉👉Bottom Line
Being a foreigner arrested at an airport usually means:
You will almost certainly be detained (sometimes for months or years).
You have the legal right to consular assistance — always ask for it immediately.
Outcome ranges from same-day deportation to long prison sentence, depending on the offense and country.

When your real love needs to break the spell of the Love Scam....

🦋When your real love needs to break the spell of the Love Scam....

👉The truth and facts are typically not wanted by a romance scam victim during the phase when they are emotionally invested and still under the scammer’s influence. This is the period of active grooming and manipulation, often lasting months or even years. Specifically, victims reject or resist the truth.
1 💗When they’re deeply in love, the scammer has created an intense emotional bond. The victim feels understood, desired, and hopeful for the first time in years (many victims are lonely, divorced, widowed, or vulnerable). Admitting it’s a scam would mean admitting that the “love” was never real—this is emotionally devastating.
2 💗When they’ve already sent money or compromising photos
The more they’ve invested (money, time, nude photos, secrets), the stronger the psychological phenomenon becomes. Accepting the truth would mean facing perceived shame, financial loss, and the fear that intimate images will be exposed.
3 💗The scammer is love-bombing or running a “crisis” – warnings feel like attacks on the person they’re trying to save.
Facts and warnings feel like cruel attacks on someone they’re desperately trying to help.
4 👪Friends/family confront aggressively – victim defends the scammer (trauma bonding) and may cut off real support.
They may cut off real-life support to protect the fake relationship.
5 T👉hey just made a big investment – riding a high of hope and dopamine; confrontation backfires.

💔When DO they finally become open to the truth?
Usually only after one (or a combination) of these happens:
The scammer ghosts them or becomes abusive when no more money comes.
They run out of money completely and hit rock bottom.
They discover undeniable proof themselves (reverse image search hits, seeing the exact same script used on others, etc.).
A very calm, non-judgmental person plants seeds of doubt instead of confronting.
In short:
💔As long as the fantasy still delivers hope and attention, facts feel like an attack on their happiness. Only when the illusion stops paying emotional rewards does the door to reality open.
