DeleteThis person was talking with my mother for a month. After hearing about her conversations, I probed for more information and, when I did, I was immediately able to identify that he was attempting to scam her. People like this person are terrible. He told her he was currently serving at the FOB Salerno Camp Khost Afghanistan. My first red flag was that he misspelled his own base name. He spelled it Khwost. No one stationed anywhere would misspell their own base name. When I Googled his picture, he came up on several romance scamming sites. He gave a long list of military credentials and said he couldn't share his real name because of "security reasons." He claimed to be born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida and his home base was in Louisiana. He was due to retire from the military after 27 years in 2 months.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest red flag is that nobody who says they are military are fake.. The military are not allowed to do this and never do. Only scammers. Also, none would ever tell you where they deployed.
DeleteScammers target anyone they think will respond so really good on you for taking it in hand for your mother. More will try to please... keep watch.
He is now on a site called OKCupid in Canada. As Kevin Jones. Same pictures - with a Florida area code.

DeleteThey are not allowed to do it, they do not do it.
Also.. nobody in the military can tell a stranger where they are deployed.
They don't just use Military, they use oil rig engineers etc too but ! The military ones you can know they will all be fake
